A fogged window is usually not a window problem
When a dual-pane window goes cloudy, the seal on the insulated glass unit has failed and the space between the panes is no longer sealed. That is a glass problem. The frame around it is usually fine.
Often the fix is a glass swap into the frame you already have, which is a very different number from a whole new window. Sometimes the frame really is done and we will say so. Either way you get told which one you are looking at before anybody quotes you.
Two tiers
Energy-efficient vinyl, or Fleetwood aluminum
For a full replacement we carry two lines and we are straight about which one suits the house. Energy-efficient vinyl, in monolithic or insulated glass, where that is genuinely the right answer for the openings and the budget.
Fleetwood aluminum is the premium line, and we are an authorized dealer. It earns its cost where the openings are large, the spans are wide, or the sightlines are the point of the room.
- Meets or exceeds current energy codes
- Whole-house replacement, opening by opening
- Energy-efficient vinyl, monolithic and insulated
- Fleetwood aluminum windows and doors
- Single glass replacement in an existing frame
How much at once
You do not have to do the whole house
Plenty of people do not, and it depends entirely on why you are replacing them. One failed unit is one unit. A whole-house look is all of them.
Tell us which it is when we come measure and we will price it that way, rather than quoting the whole house because that is the bigger number.
What we replace
Openings we work on
Windows and the doors that go with them, in the same two tiers. If yours is not on this list, call the shop and ask rather than assuming the answer is no.
-
Windows, whole-house or one at a time
Replacement in vinyl or Fleetwood aluminum, and single glass replacement where the frame is sound and only the unit has failed.
-
Doors, where they belong to the same opening
Fleetwood sliding doors and moving glass walls, specified with the windows around them so the sightlines match rather than nearly match.
Who you are dealing with
The same shop, at the same address, since 1964
The Walker family opened the shop in 1964 and it is still the same family, now in its third generation, still at 304 Main Street in Marble Falls.
We work from Fredericksburg on one end of the range to Georgetown on the other. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask. Sometimes the answer is yes, and sometimes we will tell you that somebody closer makes more sense for the size of the job.
This was a small job and other companies I talked with would not come out or would charge a large fee just to look at the problem. Very pleased with the people and the service.

Questions
What homeowners ask us about windows
My window is foggy. Do I need a whole new window?
Usually not. Fog between the panes means the seal on the insulated glass unit failed, and the frame is normally fine. That is often a glass swap rather than a full window, at a very different price. We will tell you which one you are looking at before we quote it, including when the honest answer is that the frame is done too.
Do I have to do all the windows at once?
No, and plenty of people do not. It depends on why you are replacing them. If it is one failed unit, replace that one. If it is a whole-house look, then it is all of them. Tell us which it is and we will price it that way.
What is the difference between the vinyl and the Fleetwood?
Vinyl is the energy-efficient line and it is the right answer on a lot of houses. Fleetwood is aluminum, it is the premium line, and we are an authorized dealer for it. Where it earns the difference is large openings, wide spans, and rooms where the sightlines are the point. On a standard opening it is money you do not need to spend, and we will say so.
Will new windows meet code?
Yes. What we specify meets or exceeds the energy codes that apply, and where an architect has written a specification we work to their recommendations rather than around them. If you are replacing windows as part of a permitted job, tell us at the quote and we will make sure the paperwork matches what goes in.
Why is Fleetwood so hard to find around here?
Fleetwood requires its authorized dealers to keep a physical showroom. That requirement thins the field, and it is why there are few dealers in Central Texas. Ours is at 304 Main Street.
Can you replace just the glass and leave my frame?
Often, yes, and it is worth asking before you price a whole window. If the frame is sound and the insulated glass unit has failed, the unit is what gets replaced. We measure the existing opening and match the make-up to what is there.
How far do you travel? The name says Marble Falls.
Fredericksburg to Georgetown, and most of the Hill Country in between. Marble Falls is where the shop is, not the limit of where we work. If you are near the edge of that range, call and ask.
