Why we measure late
The template is the specification
A shower gets templated on site after the tile is set, never off the plans. Tile changes the opening by enough to matter, and almost no bathroom is truly square to begin with.
What comes back to the shop is a record of the room as it actually is. The enclosure is built to that. Measuring off the drawings is how you end up with a wedge of caulk down one edge and a door that never quite closes on its own.
Choosing an enclosure
Frameless, semi-frameless, or framed
Frameless uses thicker glass and carries the load through the hardware, so there is no metal around the panels. It costs more in both the glass and the hardware, and it needs an opening that will take the weight.
Semi-frameless keeps a slim frame on the fixed panels and leaves the door edge free. Framed carries the glass in metal instead, so the panels can be thinner. Neither is a downgrade. On a tub opening or a tight bathroom, a frame is often simply the right call, and we will tell you when it is.
- Frameless and semi-frameless enclosures
- Single door, inline, and bypass sliding
- Neo-angle and custom shapes
- Three-eighths inch standard, ultra-clear, and Starphire glass
- Printed, casted and textured glass
- Steam rooms
Shapes we build
Not every opening is a rectangle
Neo-angle corners, bypass doors over a tub, and openings that are none of the standard shapes. If yours is awkward, that is the normal case rather than the exception.
-
Neo-angle and corner openings
A corner enclosure meets on an angle rather than a right angle, which means every panel is cut to that specific room. Templating matters more here than anywhere else.
-
Bypass doors, over a tub or a wide opening
Sliding panels that pass each other, in a frame or on a slim track. They suit a wide opening or a bathroom with no room for a door to swing.
Mirrors
A mirror cut to the wall reads as part of the room
One bought to the nearest stock size reads as something you hung. We cut to your measurement, and the edge is a real choice: leave it clean, put a bevel on it, or wrap it in L-mold or J-mold so it finishes against the tile.
Vanities, full walls, media rooms, and antique glass where the room wants the age rather than the clarity.
- Custom sizing, cut to the opening
- Standard, colored, antique and specialty mirror
- Bevelled edges
- L-mold and J-mold wrapping
Worth asking about
A protective coating, while the glass is still new
Hill Country water is hard, and over years it leaves a mineral deposit on untreated shower glass that stops coming off with cleaning. A protective coating is applied to the glass to slow that down, and it is far easier to do at the start than to deal with afterwards.
It is an option rather than something we add by default, and the time to decide is at the template, before the glass is made. Ask us about it when we come out and we will tell you what it does and what it does not do.
Worth knowing
Tempered glass cannot be cut after it is tempered
Every piece of shower glass is tempered, and tempering is the last thing that happens to it. After that it cannot be trimmed, drilled or adjusted. A hole for a handle or a hinge has to be in the drawing before the glass is made.
That is the reason the template is done on finished surfaces and the reason we are careful about it. It is also why a custom enclosure is a made-to-order item rather than something carried in stock.
This was a small job and other companies I talked with would not come out or would charge a large fee just to look at the problem. Very pleased with the people and the service.

Questions
What homeowners ask us
Do you measure before or after my tile goes in?
After. Almost no bathroom is square, and tile changes the opening by enough to matter. We template on the finished surfaces, and that template is what the enclosure gets built to. Measuring off the plans is how you end up with a wedge of caulk down one edge.
What is the difference between frameless and semi-frameless?
Frameless uses thicker glass and carries the load through the hardware, so there is no metal around the panels. Semi-frameless keeps a slim frame on the fixed panels and a free door edge. Frameless looks cleaner and costs more, in both glass thickness and hardware. Semi-frameless is not a downgrade, it is a different set of trade-offs, and on some openings it is the better answer.
Can the glass be adjusted once it arrives?
No, and that is worth understanding before the order goes in. Tempered glass cannot be cut, drilled or trimmed after it is tempered, so every hole for a hinge or a handle has to be in the drawing beforehand. It is why we template on finished tile rather than working from the plans.
My opening is not a rectangle. Is that a problem?
It is the normal case. Neo-angle corners, openings that meet on an angle, and shapes that match nothing standard are all made to the template rather than picked from a range. Send a photo and we will tell you what we are looking at.
Does the water out here damage shower glass?
Hard water leaves a mineral deposit on untreated glass over time, and past a certain point it stops coming off with cleaning. A protective coating slows that down. It is an option rather than standard, and the moment to decide is at the template, before the glass is made. Ask us when we come out and we will tell you what it does and what it does not do.
Do you do mirrors as well, or only showers?
Both, and they often go in the same bathroom. Mirrors are cut to the opening rather than bought to the nearest stock size, and the edge can be left clean, bevelled, or wrapped in L-mold or J-mold to finish against the tile. We also do full walls, media rooms and antique glass.
Will you do a small job, like one shower door or a single mirror?
Yes. What we will tell you honestly is when a small job needs its own trip and what that costs, versus folding it into other work at the same house. Ask rather than assuming the answer is no.
